The Maryland Chapter of the APA is looking to fill the position of Web Manager for the Chapter website. The Web Manager serves as a non-voting Executive Committee member. This position is open to Chapter membership. 


Project Manager – Baltimore Sustainable Communities Initiative

POSITION BACKGROUND: The Baltimore Metropolitan Council (BMC) is a private non-profit organization committed to identifying regional interests and developing collaborative strategies through plans and programs, which will improve the quality of life and economic vitality throughout the region. BMC seeks a Project Manager to assist in developing a Regional Plan for Sustainable Development (RPSD). The Baltimore region has been awarded a Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The region will use the funds to create a RPSD that better links our transportation, workforce development and housing planning efforts. Partnering with BMC in this effort are seven local governments, three state agencies, two universities, and fourteen non-governmental entities. Together, these entities form a consortium that makes up the Baltimore Sustainable Communities Initiative. For more background, please review the region’s grant application which may be found at BMC´s website: www.baltometro.org.


Preservation Planner (Senior Planner – Grade 13)

Leesburg, VA (pop. 43,303). Founded in 1758, the Town of Leesburg has two historic districts and several Civil War sites; located in high-growth Loudoun County outside of Washington, D.C.  This position serves as the town’s historic preservation officer and reports to the Zoning Administrator within the Planning and Zoning Department.


RFP - 2011 Peters Township Comprehensive Plan Update

Peters Township is seeking professionals to assist in the preparation of the 2011 Comprehensive Plan Update. The Township’s goal is to create an identifiable, resilient, and flexible community that constantly evolves to meet its ever-changing needs. Specifically, to research and analyze existing conditions, identify land use issues/opportunities, create an inclusive public participation process, and evaluate varying growth scenarios. The process will result in recommendations for land use regulations and policies that are economically viable, financially prudent, environmentally conscientious, adhere to public desire/need, and reinforce and strengthen Peters Township’s role in the region as a competitive and leading community.


Assistant Professor/Associate Professor (Tenure Track)

The Morgan State University (MSU) Department of City and Regional Planning intends to fill a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor or Associate level starting in the Fall of 2012.   The City and Regional Planning Program at Morgan State University was originally established in 1970 and is one of the first planning programs at a Historically Black Institution. The program is fully accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board and is strongly oriented to the professional world, and uses its setting in the Baltimore- Washington metropolitan region as a starting point for course study, research and partnerships. Class sizes are usually small and the program is offered in the evening to meet the needs of working students. Assistant or Associate Professor of City and Regional Planning (Full-Time, Tenure-Track)

The Catholic University of America has the oldest and largest School of Architecture and Planning in the Washington metropolitan region.
